2008 TV-EVANGELISM ZHYTOMYR AND CHERNIGOV, UKRAINE
David has just come back from evangelism in Ukraine, first in Zhytomyr, then in Chernigov. Thousands attended in the open air summer theatres and gave their lives to Christ. Powerful salvation and healings occurred as the result of the simple preaching of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The whole purpose of our evangelism is to introduce the people to the person of Jesus so that when the evangelist has gone, the people know who to turn to – Jesus Himself. Yes, we work in co-operation with the local churches: the local pastors introduce the meetings and speak to the new converts from the platform, their counsellors counsel the new converts individually, and David directs the people to attend the local churches. But it is Jesus the people need.
In response to the preaching of the Gospel, we saw broken bones healed, deaf ears opened, lumps vanished, HIV Aids and hepatitis symptoms gone. But the most amazing testimony came on the second night of the meeting in Chernigov. A young woman rushed to the platform to be the first to give her testimony:
She said two weeks before, the doctors at the hospital had diagnosed her with a severe form of leukaemia (cancer of the blood). They gave her only 5 years to live, after more tests they reduced her life expectancy to 2 years – then, because of her risk of a brain haemorrhage, on the opening day of the crusade, they gave her only 6 months to live. She came to the meeting, and next day she went again to the hospital for more tests. – At the end of the day, as the meeting was starting, the hospital called her on her mobile – no trace of the disease in her blood, no cancer! She was dying, but Jesus has given back her life!
